Εγκατάσταση πλατφόρμας Σύγχρονης Τηλεκπαίδευσης Ανοικτού Κώδικα για το Πρόγραμμα Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών (ΠΜΣ) στην Εφαρμοσμένη Πληροφορική

Abstract

Ο σκοπός δημιουργίας της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η εγκατάσταση μιας πλατφόρμας Σύγχρονης Τηλεκπαίδευσης ανοικτού κώδικα για το Πρόγραμμα Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών (ΠΜΣ) στην Εφαρμοσμένη Πληροφορική του Τ.Ε.Ι Σερρών, καθώς και η δυνατότητα χρησιμοποίησης της Πλατφόρμας αυτής από το τμήμα για τις εκπαιδευτικές του ανάγκες. Για τον λόγο αυτό πραγματοποιήθηκε μια εκτενής έρευνα και σύγκριση όσον αφορά τα χαρακτηριστικά των πλατφορμών σύγχρονης εκπαίδευσης που χρησιμοποιούνται στις μέρες μας, τόσο σε πλατφόρμες ανοιχτού κώδικα, όσο και σε εμπορικές εφαρμογές. Στο πλαίσιο της ανάλυσης της έννοιας της Τηλεκπαίδευσης πραγματοποιείται αναφορά στην Διαδικτυακή πλατφόρμα τηλεκπαίδευσης, στην εξ αποστάσεως εκπαίδευση, στην ηλεκτρονική Μάθηση ή Τηλεκπαίδευση (e-learning), στην μικτή μάθηση, στα συστήματα διαχείρισης μάθησης Learning Management Systems (LMS), στα συστήματα διαχείρισης περιεχομένου Content Management Systems (CMS), καθώς και στα είδη της Τηλεκπαίδευσης (Ασύγχρονη και Σύγχρονη Τηλεκπαίδευση).

The purpose of this thesis is the installation of an open source synchronous education platform for the M.Sc. in Applied Informatics of the Informatics Engineering Department in TEI of Central Macedonia. Before the installation of the most adequate open source platform, a thorough research was conducted in order to identify the proper characteristics of a modern synchronous education platform. In the research it was also included the analysis of the concepts of distance education, e-Learning, blended learning and Learning Management Systems (LMS), Content Management Systems (CMS) and the types of ELearning (Asynchronous and Synchronous Distance Learning). Furthermore, all the available synchronous education platforms were examined both commercial and open source. Additionally, a comparison among the best available open source synchronous education platform was conducted (mainly between Open Meeting and Big Blue Button) and the Big Blue Button platform was chosen to be installed and configured. Since the operation of the synchronous education platform was configured properly, the interoperability of the platform was tested with two asynchronous education platforms (Moodle and Open Eclass) and with a Content Management System (WordPress). Finally, using Open Eclass asynchronous education platform a number of videoconference sessions was scheduled and recorded with the use of the synchronous education platform.
